Designed, administered and published by Anthony Green

The Google map above gives the area to the West of the town and the locations mentioned in the text are identified with a marker. If you pass your curser over the marker it’s name will appear. You can zoom in and out of the map to see the exact location and to pan around the map. The Google Street View facility is also active, simply drag the yellow ‘man’ to the location to see the ‘street view’.

Close by Redditch, to the West, is the town of Bromsgrove, which has a small theatre, the Artrix, with a wide range of performances and film. Just to the south of Bromsgrove is the Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings, an open air museum of rescued historic buildings.

To the south of this area, and south west of Redditch, is the National Trust Hanbury Hall, a William and Mary-style country house, beautifully restored garden and park walks, including a walk to Hanbury Church, with its extensive views over the area and, nearby is the Jinney Ring Craft Centre with both a daytime and an evening restaurant .

At Tardebigge, the Worcester and Birmingham Canal has 30 locks in two miles.

Further west, on the main A38, just north of the historic spa town of Droitwich, is Webbs of Wychbold, an extensive and popular Midland garden centre.

Further west is the town of Kidderminster, in the Wyre Forest district, which has shopping centres, a newly opened Museum of Carpet  and an attractive small theatre, the Rose.

To the south of Kidderminster in the servants quarters of Hartlebury Castle, is the Worcestershire County Museum, with the intriguing story of Worcestershire's past.

A little further south is Stourport on Severn, a georgian canal town on the River Severn. Close by are the Severn Valley Railway and the West Midland Safari Park.

For those who enjoy a visit to the countryside, there is much to see to the west of Redditch. South-west, take the A443 from Droitwich, crossing over the River Severn at Holt Heath, continue past  Witley Court and on to Tenbury Wells.

To the  north-west   there is the Lickey Hills, Waseley Hills and Kinver Edge, and west  is the Wyre Forest.
